Gratitude Jars - Being grateful for the little things in your life.

When was the last time you celebrated the little joys in your life? Most of us focus on what goes wrong, the failures in our lives, and not the small good things that happen every day. Stuff like that promotion you got at work, or that test you aced at uni, or that deal you just signed, or that skincare routine that you just started.

No road is completely smooth, that's for sure, but we shouldn't let the downs cloud the ups in our lives.

We should make it a habit to be thankful and grateful for the little things happening to us because we can use them to strengthen us during the hard times.

You might probably be asking yourself like what's the connection between all that and the gratitude jar.

Gratitude is the expression of appreciation for what one has - Pschology Today.

Personally,  I was aware of the idea of being grateful, but it was always the big stuff and not the daily small things. So if you choose to, then we can all start the gratitude jar challenge.

What is a Gratitude Jar?

A gratitude jar is a jar that you fill with all the small things that you are grateful for.

So every day something good happens you write it on a piece of paper or sticky note and put it in the jar. Then at the end of the year, you open it up and see what you have been grateful for in that particular year.

Well as far as I know most people open their jars at the end of the year, but that is up to you, you can open your jar after a specific number of months, or when you are having some hard times som that those little things can keep your spirits up.

There is power in the small good things, and with time you will come to realize that. They will remind you of your achievements, of how blessed you are.

Steps to Creating a Gratitude Jar

  • Buy a beautiful jar, medium size. (You can just buy a Maison jar from a kitchen  utensils shop)
  • Label it, gratitude jar, happy jar, etc
  • Get some sticky notes and a pen.
  • Start counting your blessings.

What to keep in your gratitude Jar

At the end of the day write everything that you are grateful for that particular day.
  • If you got promoted.
  • If you got a new client
  • If you passed a test
  • If somebody made you happy
  • If you accomplished a task.
Make sure you write the date and then fill that jar.
