Tooth gap is a health condition known as diastema(plural diastemata) which means a space or gap between two teeth. It happens when there is an unequal relationship between the size of the teeth and the jaw. The size of your teeth and jaw bone can be determined by genetics, so diastema can run in families(hereditary).
These spaces can form anywhere in the mouth, but are most noticeable between the two upper front teeth. Some gaps are small and barely noticeable, whereas other gaps are much larger.
It's actually a normal feature and it's quite common among children but can exist among adults as well. In children, gaps may disappear once their
permanent teeth grow in; and for some adults ,the tooth gap increases with age.
If you don’t like the way the gap looks, there are several ways to close
it or reduce its size.Braces are a common treatment for diastema,bonding is another option (This procedure uses a tooth-colored composite which can fill gaps).

The French know the deal, their phrase for gap teeth is “dents du bonheur” literally translating to “lucky teeth"
I don't think if there is a need of closing your gap, because they give you that perfect smile, and enhance your beauty; they also make you unique among many others(they act like your signature).
